Sarasota Herald-Tribune Manatee Memorial Hospital is offering a new option to treat carotid artery disease and prevent future strokes using a new procedure called TransCarotid Artery Revascularization. TCAR is a clinically proven, minimally invasive and safe approach for high surgical risk patients who need carotid artery treatment. Manatee Memorial is the first hospital in Manatee County to offer the TCAR procedure. The first TCAR procedure was performed Feb. 11 by Howard Hermans and S.J. Mathews.
