Iowa dementia sufferers at higher risk in winter

People who suffer from dementia face a host of increased risks in winter months and in Iowa, dangers include everything from falls to getting lost, even in places that used to be familiar. Some 66,000 Iowans suffer from Alzheimer s and other forms of dementia. Arkansans urged to donate blood amid critical shortage

Blood donations are important year-round, and January, which is National Blood Donor Month, presents a unique challenge because of the most recent winter storm. The foul weather caused a drop in donor turnout, putting the blood supply at risk.
