After a closure for three years due to damage suffered by Hurricane Harvey, the Humble Museum reopened formally in an all new location. The new museum is now housed in the former band hall of the Charles Bender Performing Art Center (located at 601 Higgins St.).
The opening ceremony took place Saturday, Nov.14th, during which many speakers shared their thoughts on the museum’s reopening.
Dr. Robert Meaux, who is the President of the Board of Directors for the Humble Museum, spearheaded the effort in getting the museum operational and setting up exhibits during the last few months, despite the countless challenges faced due to the COVID pandemic. He explained that the Humble Museum was ready to be occupied in Spring, but the pandemic put a further halt to a grand opening, forcing him and his wife to work in solitude setting up exhibits for several ....
