The bog ponds gave up largemouth bass through the ice this weekend while trout and perch chewed in some of the smaller, iced-over kettle lakes.

Schoolie stripers blitz on top in the Canal as a wave of migratory head south around Outer Cape, and tautog fishing continues to improve in Buzzards Bay.

Tautog are taking green crabs on rigs and jigs, schoolie stripers are packed into the rivers and marshes, and trout and bass put on the feed bag in the ponds.

Striped bass fishing is excellent and the approaching new moon should make for some banner big bass nights for those working big soft plastic stick baits or eels.

Spring is on it's way, and with it comes some great freshwater fishing before we shift gears to saltwater with the arrival of striped bass.
