City officials hope to move up a study on Memorial Hall by a year


A comprehensive “use and rehabilitation study” for Hutchinson’s Memorial Hall remains a top priority of the Hutchinson Landmark Commission.
Such a study, however, is potentially two years away unless the city qualifies for a historic preservation grant, which could move the plan up by a year, Ryan Hvitlok, director of Planning & Development, advised the Hutchinson City Council on Tuesday.
The discussion was part of a presentation on the Landmark Commissions’ three-year plan, which the council adopted with some modification.
Funding for the Memorial Hall study, estimated to cost $50,000 to $60,000, has been in the city’s Capital Improvement Project list for a couple of years, Hvitlok said, with the spending currently scheduled for 2023. ....
