Let's go over to iowa just north and east of des moines. this is charles city, iowa where the river there is at flood stage. this is called ice flows. this is ice jams where, the ice breaks up, layer of ice on top of the river. it often breaks in large chunks you're seeing. they float downstream. they pile up across narrow passages like bridges and dams. and that causes major flooding. so, even though we're getting pictures out of iowa, the charles city area, this could really be anywhere across the midwest or even the northeast. we see a lot of ice jams across new england this time of year. s...
