Amsterdam, 21 May 2021 - The Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands receives 3.8 million euro from the Dutch Research Council for the GLOBALISE project to provide digital access to the UNESCO archive of the VOC. Together with the VU Amsterdam, the National Archives, the International Institute for Social History and the Humanities Cluster of the Royal Netherlands Academy, the Huygens Institute for History of the Netherlands is building a state-of-the-art scientific infrastructure, enabling a better understanding of colonial history, the Dutch East India Company and the early-modern histories of countries and cultures of the Indian Ocean and Indonesian Archipelago Worlds. ....

How international students make decisions about staying in Canada

While some international students come to Canada knowing whether they intend to stay or return home after completing their degrees, the majority decide after they have had a chance to live here for a few years, a new study has found.
Nearly a quarter of our participants made the decision prior to arriving in Canada, said Elena Neiterman, a lecturer in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo. However, the majority were not certain what their plans for the future were until they had a chance to live here and explore life in Canada. ....

Columbia Public Health establishes Jennifer Schlecht Memorial Fund to support careers in sexual and reproductive health

New York, May 13, 2021 - The Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health (HDPFH) at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health announced today the creation of the Jennifer Schlecht Memorial Scholarship for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Justice in Fragile Settings which will be awarded annually as part of the Jennifer Schlecht Memorial Fund, hosted by Family Planning 2030 (FP2030) at the United Nations Foundation.
