FOXNEWS Special Report With Bret Baier August 12, 2021 22:23:00

Raise adequate immune response from the standard dosing and there is clearly an effort to try make that possible asap. that is a separate circumstance. those aren t people who sort of need a booster after six months. they re people whose initial immunization didn t quite take. for the rest of us. well, maybe this fall. i think all of us looking at the data will say boosters are going to be necessary at some point the question is what s the right timing that s what we are looking to try to define from the most rigorous science we can get our hands on. bret: seems like a little frustration getting the data at least privately from the policy makers. but, can you definitively say to somebody that the vaccine provides better protection than the antibodies that you get from actually having had covid-19? yes, bret. i can say that there was a study published by cdc just 10 days ago in kentucky. ....

Open. reporter: the deputy superintendent of dallas school districts, say when it came to the kids filling classrooms, masking up made the most sense. with the executive order in place was there any hesitation here? we want to make sure that we re following the law. we ve been really clear that the most important consequence that we re looking at is how we keep people safe. the cdc has updated its guidance to recommend that pregnant women get vaccinated against coronavirus. prior to this the cdc had a neutral stance whether the immunization was safe for pregnant women. now they say there s no increased risk of those vaccinated. the cdc found that pregnant women are more likely to get ill from covid than not pregnant people. in florida a 30-year-old hospitalized with covid died just days after giving birth to her daughter. she cradled her newborn long ....

professor, how do you think the update will roll this out. do people go to the pharmacy and say they re immuno compromised? do they have to have a note from a doctor? will doctors give the third dose? how does it work? this is an important consideration and it s not been worked out yet. we have people who really need the additional immunization versus those who just want it. the world health organization put out a statement calling on a moratorium on booster doses for these people who don t have the this kind of immune condition. but want a third dose. this isn t a booster, this is a third dose of a three-dose series that immune compromised people should get. we have to work this out. i think people are going back to their primary doctors so that the record management will be complete. and people will get permission to do that. ....

And we have three or four studies showing it s going down to 40 to 50%. and and that s concerning. the good news is, if you got the pfizer-biontech vaccine, like i did, i feel comfortable that i m not going to go to the hospital. or or the intensive-care unit. but the question s going to be what s the trigger from usfda and cdc to say whom, maybe, we should think about a third immunization. adding to the confusion is the fact that we don t really know if this is waning immunity, declining immunity, or if it s something unique to the delta variant because the two things are happening, at once. and then, finally, there is a lot of data that s out there that s not publicly available. so, i m pretty confident, all these discussions are going on between the companies and the fda and cdc. so we will see if, tomorrow, when they announce the third immunization for immunocompromised individuals, and we will see which immune-compromised conditions they are looking at beyond solid organ trans ....

Boxes as to the proof of protection against sars-cov-2 delta variant. there was one glaring missing check in previous iterations of this and that was in the j&j clinical effectiveness. next slide. i had showed you before this slide looking at data of immune responses in vitro and this was the j&j vaccine study, which showed that it elicits durable antibody and cellar responses against delta with minimal decreases for at least eight months after immunization. next slide. we now have a slide that recently a study that recently came out from south africa and other southern african countries. it s called the sisonke study including health care workers, this is real world effectiveness against delta with a 91 to 96% ....
