PM Modi to inaugurate 'Maitri Setu' between India and Bangladesh on Tuesday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday inaugurate the Maitri Setu between India and Bangladesh a bridge built over the Feni river, the Prime Minister s Office (PMO) said. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple infrastructure projects in Tripura during the event, it said.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the âMaitri Setuâ between India and Bangladesh on March 9 at 12 noon via video conferencing, the PMO said in a statement.
The bridge âMaitri Setuâ has been built over the Feni river which flows between the Indian boundary in Tripura and Bangladesh.
The name âMaitri Setuâ symbolizes growing bilateral relations and friendly ties between India and Bangladesh, the PMO said. ....

Bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh can be increased further, if necessary steps are taken to remove the existing trade bottlenecks, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said on Monday.
“India is a trusted friend of Bangladesh and deeper trade and economic ties are prevalent between the two countries. But there is still ample opportunity for enhancing the ongoing bilateral trade,” he remarked as Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami called on him at his office.
In particular, he put stress on bilateral discussion on removing non-tariff barriers and improving customs management at the borders to this end, says a commerce ministry release. ....
