Assam is the Springboard of India's 'Act East' Policy, says EAM S. Jaishankar

On Monday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar pronounced Assam as Springboard of India’s Act East Policy and its overall development as fundamental to the success of the policy. Addressing a press conference on ‘Act East Policy and India-Japan Cooperation in North East India’, he asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply committed to the all-round development of the state and JICA- Japan International Corporation Agency can attest to the fact how international partnerships and policies can make a contribution towards the development of states.
Dr S Jaishankar also underlined that though the birth of nation-states after the departure of British, perturbed the process connectivity, the Act East Policy enunciated by PM focused on the potential to restore the connectivity and entail increased people to people contact with the other countries situated to the eastern side of India particularly the ASEAN nations. ....

The Delhi Police on Monday claimed that climate activist Disha Ravi, another activist and lawyer Nikita Jacob, and Shantanu had created the toolkit and shared it to defame India across the globe on the issue of three farm laws .
Addressing a press conference this afternoon regarding the toolkit case, the Delhi Police said that the 21-year-old Ravi had deleted the WhatsApp group, which she created to spread the toolkit . ....

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday said that the government will be in a situation to administer vaccines to those above 50 years of age in March, in the next phase of India s Covid-19 vaccination drive.
Vardhan also said that expert group on vaccination will discuss how to pay for vaccination of those above 50 years of age.

Efforts are on for more foreign investment in Assam: Jaishankar


(MENAFN - IANS) p>Guwahati, Feb 15 (IANS) External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar on Monday said that the government has been trying to develop infrastructure and connectivity, besides enabling the environment in Assam to attract more foreign investment, particularly the Japanese investors.
Accompanied by the Japan Ambassador to India, Satoshi Suzuki, Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is very serious to develop the northeastern region and Assam with more investments.
Japanese companies are familier to Assam. India-Japan partnership can really make a difference. Assam is the springboard of India s Act East Policy, he told the media.
Referring to the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) aided projects, the Minister said that several projects worth Rs 9,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore are almost committed or implemented or under discussions. ....
