Following the announcement of a $2.3 billion plan to build a new manufacturing facility producing batteries for electric vehicles at the General Motors Spring Hill plant, the Maury County Commission approved a resolution to build an access road at the site.
The route to the new plant will connect to Highway 31 and be constructed in accordance to the Industrial Highway Act of 1959, which authorizes the Tennessee Department of Transportation to contract with cities and counties for the construction and maintenance of industrial highwaysto provide access to industrial areas and to facilitate the development and expansion of industry within the state. ....
