AICTE withdraws Approval Process Handbook 2021-22 for eligibility to Engineering Admission for a short while. The Council has informed to place the handbook again on the official website in a day or two.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) issued a revised guideline and took a U-Turn after stating that Class 12 students no longer need to opt for physics and mathematics for Pursuing Engineering. They issued an Official statement by withdrawing the Approval Process Handbook 2021-22. It said, It is to inform all concerned that Approval process Handbook 2021-22 has been withdrawn for a short while and will be placed again on AICTE site in a day or two . ....

Following mixed reactions from students, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has clarified that Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) subjects in Class 12 will continue to remain important for admission to engineering Undergraduate (UG) programmes. Some students state it will create more opportunities for those who drop PCM in Class 12 while, others said they will find it difficult to cope with engineering programme without a background in Mathematics.
In its new approval handbook for 2021-22, AICTE stated Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will continue to be important subjects in engineering courses. But, students will have to pass in three subjects out of 14 subjects namely Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology (IT), Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject, Engineering G ....

AICTE Withdraws Futuristic Handbook Which Paved Way For Maths, Physics Becoming Optional For Engineering Admission

The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Friday (12 March) clarified that the changes making mathematics and physics at Class XII-level as optional for admission to engineering courses were not binding on institutions.
This clarification was released after many media outlets have reported that mathematics and physics at Class XII-level had been made optional for admission to engineering courses.
The AICTE withdrew its approval process handbook (APH) for 2021-22, which had the new eligibility criteria, reports

New Delhi, Mar 13: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will continue to be important subjects in engineering courses and it is not mandatory for state government or institutions to offer these courses to students who have not studied them in Class 12, the AICTE said on Friday. Addressing a press conference, AICTE chairperson Anil Sahasrabudhe also said students opting for streams like Biotechnology, Textile or Agriculture Engineering will have an option to not study these subjects in Class 12.
The clarification by Sahasrabudhe came following news reports about Physics and Mathematics no longer being compulsory for studying engineering as per the approval handbook for 2021-22 issued by the AICTE. ....
