WeRide, a Chinese L4 autonomous driving company, today announced the acquisition of MoonX.AI, an autonomous trucking startup in China. The transaction will help accelerate WeRide’s strategic development in autonomous driving technology, product innovation, commercial applications, and talent pool. Dr. Qingxiong Yang, Founder and CEO of MoonX.AI, will serve as vice president of WeRide and dean of WeRide Research Institute and bring over 50 experienced engineers from MoonX.AI to join WeRide.
Established in June 2018, MoonX.AI is focused on transforming the freight industry through autonomous driving technology, with a fleet of more than 20 self-driving passenger vehicles and trucks. It has completed open road tests and trial operations in Shenzhen, Xiamen and Quanzhou, along with over 300,000 kilometers of autonomous testing.
