A Taiwanese man came up with an ingenious way of getting extended paid leave from work: he got married four times and divorced three times in just 37 days. According to Taiwanese law,
a person has the right to eight days paid work leave when they get married, which is exactly what one unnamed clerk received when he got married last year. After that, it s back to work but the hero of our story had prepared for this in advance. On the last day of his eight-day leave, the man divorced his wife, only to marry her again the next day and ask for another paid leave, to which he felt he was entitled to, by law. He went on to marry the same woman four times, and divorce her three times in 37 days, for a total of 32 days of paid leave. ....

Chancellor Rishi Sunak s Spring Budget has left analysts torn between stealth tax hikes and the Treasury s broader plan to stabilise the public finances.
Edward Park, chief investment officer at Brooks Macdonald, said the Chancellor was caught between a rock and a hard place since meaningful tax rises to repair the fiscal damage wrought by Covid would.

Actors Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson, who’ve won a brace of Oscars each, will headline the cast of “The Great Escapers,” which Pathé will present at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.
Inspired by true events, the film will tell the story of Bernard Jordan’s (Caine) escape from his care home in 2014 to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France. Jordan’s adventure, spanning 48 hours, also marked the culmination of his 60-year marriage to Irene (Jackson), and the story celebrates their love without sentimentality. ....
