India has recently issued the LoR for the substantial deal valued at $6 billion with France for procuring 26 Rafale Marine aircraft— 22 single-seater fighter jets and 4 twin-seater trainers

India has formally communicated to France its decision to procure 26 naval variant of the Rafale fighter aircraft for the Indian Navy, kick-starting the procurement process under an intergovernmental framework, people familiar with the matter have said.

Commander Inder Singh, the war hero who famously sank the Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi during the 1971 war, passed away in Haryana. He was cremated with full state honors. Commander Singh's brave act in sinking the enemy submarine before it could reach Chittagong played a significant role in the 1971 war.

​The minister, who will be holding bilateral talks as part of the annual defence dialogue with France, visited Safran Engine Division's Research and Development Centre at Gennevilliers, with officials saying he was briefed on the latest developments in aero-engine technology. "Safran expressed interest in being a part of the Indian growth story by working with its counterparts on mutually agreed joint projects," an official said.
