As the United States is inching closer to getting a COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a warning to US citizens concerning possible scams and frauds.

85,000 Hacked SQL Databases Priced $550 Each on Dark Web After Hackers Hold Them for 9 Days Ransom

Hackers have reportedly broken into certain databases, stolen their content, and held it for ransom for a period of 9 days. Hackers will then sell this database to the highest bidder if the said DB owner will not pay the asked ransom demand.

According to an article by ZDNet, over 85,000 SQL databases were up for sale on the dark web for a reported price of just $550/database. The portal has been brought to ZDNet s attention by a certain security researcher. It is said to be a part of the database ransom scheme that has repeatedly been going on ever since the start of 2020. ....

France Fines Google and Amazon for $120M and $42M After Unsolicited Tracking Cookies

France s official data protection agency called the CNIL, has recently slapped both Google and Amazon with certain fines for dropping unsolicited tracking cookies. Google has received a $120M fine while Amazon has received a $42M fine.
Are tracking cookies dangerous?
According to an article by TechCrunch, the regulators previously carried out the investigation of the said websites over the course of the past year and have been able to find tracking cookies that were reportedly automatically dropped when a certain user visits the domain. This is in breach of the country s own Data Protection Act.
Google s case with the CNIL has recently found three different consent violations that were related to dropping certain non-essential cookies. A penalty notice was translated from French to english to get the gist of what the fine was specifically for. ....
