The commercialization of space has long been dominated by the world s superpowers, but Taiwan is hoping to carve out its own blue ocean in the space economy through its development of cube satellites.
CubeSats are miniaturized satellites made up of multiple cubic modules measuring 10 cubic centimeters and weighing 1.3 kilograms that can have a wide range of applications and are increasingly relevant to the aerospace industry. ....

FEATURE: Cubesats Taiwan’s entry ticket to the space industry

The commercialization of outer space has long been dominated by the world’s superpowers, but Taiwan is hoping to carve out its own “blue ocean” in the space economy through the development of cube satellites.
Cubesats are miniaturized satellites made up of multiple cubic modules of about 10cm3 weighing 1.3kg, which can have a wide range of applications and are increasingly relevant to the aerospace industry.
In the short term, Taiwan sees cubesats as testing grounds for suppliers eager to crack the aerospace market, but the longer-term vision is to emerge as a full-service provider and use the know-how from cubesats to develop communication satellites for 5G networks. ....

NASA sunsetting collaboration with Russia
NASA has moved to wean itself off Russia by reducing its staff and phasing out joint projects in Moscow after Elon Musk’s SpaceX ended America’s reliance on Russian rockets.
According to Russian media reports, NASA has started to lay off almost all staff members of its liaison office in Moscow, minimize personnel stationed at the astronaut training center in Star City, casualize the research team at the IMBP bio-medical experiment facility, and phase out joint programs.
“This is due to the end of regular flights of NASA astronauts on Russian spacecraft”. ....

KU teacher captures meteor shower on camera - Newspaper

KARACHI: A faculty member of the Institute of Space Science and Technology, University of Karachi, engineer Absar Ahmed Khan, has managed to capture a meteor shower on camera.
It’s the first time images of the meteor shower were captured through a specialized camera at KU. One image was taken at 4.30am on Dec 13 and the other at 1.45am on Dec 14.
Engineer Absar shared that a meteor shower was a celestial event in which a number of meteors were observed to radiate or originate from one point in the night sky. Pakistan lies in the Northern Hemisphere and viewing was good all night in the region. ....

A faculty member of the Institute of Space Science and Technology University of Karachi Engineer Absar Ahmed Khan captured a meteor shower on the night of December 13, 2020.
According to the statement issued by KU, Khan shared that a meteor shower is a celestial event in which several meteors are observed to radiate or originate, from one point in the night sky. Pakistan lies in the Northern Hemisphere and a proper view of the phenomena was visible last night. ....
