There are broadly three reasons why we perform tests in clinical medicine: diagnosis (what is the disease?), etiognosis (what caused a disease?), and prognosis (how will the disease evolve?). Montevideo, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Nurses of Uruguay on Sunday called for more hiring of personnel and support to be able to provide better assistance to Covid-19 patients at emergency wards and intensive care units as health facilities are overwhelmed with cases.
The National Emergency System on Sunday reported 2,339 new Covid-19 cases, so the number of active patients rose to 23,978; 384 of them are in red-level intensive care units because they take up 44 percent of its 867 operational beds.
Just as intensivists did before, the nursing union called for the hiring of more professionals through established funding mechanisms such as the Coronavirus Fund. ....
