Interior Secretary nominee Deb Haaland sought to court moderates while facing tough questions during her Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday. 

Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) faces what could be a contentious hearing on Tuesday as she seeks to convince lawmakers to confirm her to lead the Interior Department. 

The former lawmakers also went on to cite Stewart Udall, Mark’s uncle and Tom’s father, who served as Interior secretary during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations.
