After a six-year hiatus, the International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta is returning to the Whaling City this weekend, riding the waves of culture and history.
The Azorean Maritime Heritage Society will be hosting 40 people from the Azores (Faial and Pico) for the XII International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta. There are only 63 authentic Azorean Whaleboats in the world and New Bedford, MA is home to 3 of them. The rest are in the Azores, Portugal. Every 4 years the regatta lands in Clark's Cove, New Bedford, with the alternate years
