Intel announced select SKUs in the Intel Atom® x6000E series of processors have obtained IEC61508 SIL2 and ISO13849 certification from TÜV SÜD, a certification agency. With this certification, designers can accelerate development and deployment of industrial applications that must adhere to strict functional safety (FuSa) standards.
“The Intel Atom® x6000E series of processors were designed for our industrial customers with safety and security in mind. The functional safety certification allows customers to consolidate safety- and non-safety-related workloads at the edge onto a single compute platform, reducing overhead,” says John Healy, Intel vice president of the Internet of Things (IoT) Group and general manager of Platform Management and Customer Engineering. ....
