Traffic is picking up, which is normal on a Friday evening. However, you can expect to see more semi-trucks and overall more vehicles on Highway 101 because of the Grapevine closure.

Cnn meteorologist is in the cnn weather center. camila, you first. >> reporter: it is still snowing out here and raining in a lot of the l.a. area. officials saying that a lot of the highways in the l.a. area are closed. so they're asking everyone to stay home, if possible. normally where i'm standing now, you would be able to see interstate 5, and normally you would see all the traffic. instead, you're seeing all of the snow and an empty highway. we did see one snow truck, but it's just going to take a long time for officials here to figure out how to deal with the snow and rain because this ...
We're right along interstate 5, essentially between san francisco and los angeles. a minlg hiajor highway and it i down. and so everybody in this area is stuck here. all of these trucks are parked because they are stuck. as as long as the highway is crd they will have to stay here. we came last night because they knew that this was a possibility. authorities are trying to do everything they can to close open the highway, but it has been impossible.
