Northeast sanctioned over INR 60,000 crore for road projects in last 3 years

DIMAPUR: A total of 4686 km of National Highways amounting to over INR 60,093 crore have been sanctioned by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in North East Region (NER) in the last 3 years. The major ongoing projects in NER include four-laning of Dimapur-Kohima road in Nagaland, four-laning of Nagaon bypass to Holongi in Arunachal Pradesh, alternate two-lane highway from Bagrakote to Pakyong in Sikkim, two-laning of Aizawl-Tupang in Mizoram and four-laning of Imphal-Moreh section in Manipur. This was informed by Minister for DoNER G Kishan Reddy at Lok Sabha in a written reply on Monday. He stated that the government of India is implementing various flagship programmes and other schemes for the development of the NER through the respective administrative ministries and departments within the approved financial outlays as per scheme design. He stated that as per extant policy of the government, fifty-five non-exempted central ministries and departments are mandated to spend at least 10% of their Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) for central sector and centrally sponsored schemes in the NER for the overall development of the region including infrastructural development. Scheduled flights/trains to continue to operate during lockdown period
The Karnataka government has allowed inter-State, inter-district vehicle movement in emergency conditions only, during the 14-day lockdown in the State.
State’s Chief secretary P Ravi Kumar, in an order issued Monday night, said “Due to rising Covid-19 cases and upward trend in case positivity rate, the State government is satisfied that the current circumstances require more aggressive containment measures to break the chain of transmission. Hence the lockdown to come into effect from today (Tuesday) night 10 pm is expected to continue till May 12.”

Covid spurt: Karnataka imposes weekend curfew, night curfew till May 4


The government has allowed functioning of government and private offices/organisations/ companies outside the containment zone.
All private offices/organisations/institutions/companies shall be allowed to function with minimal strength as far as possible. As far as possible, work from home should be encouraged.
Only essential employees/staff of IT and ITeS companies shall work from office. The rest will work from home.
All telecom and internet service providers and companies offering allied services to telecom and internet services providers are permitted to operate 24/7 with unrestricted movement of personnel and vehicles.
All industries/companies that require operations at night shall be permitted to operate. Movement of employees of such organisations shall be allowed on producing valid ID card/authorisation issued by their respective organisation/institution.
