Thank you so much. i can t say enough about richard engle, our colleague. he s there. when you re in it over there, tell me about the taliban. the enemy that showed up 20 yards away out of nowhere on the way back from the americans soldiers back from a memorial for a fellow soldier. well, you know, the taliban are very, very effective fighter rz. where i was they had roughly 30, 40 minutes to attack until air power showed up. so it was a fair fight for 30, 40 minutes. they would try to get inside the belt buckle, which means they would get so close to the wire that the base s mortars or supporting artillery could not hit them without being in danger of hitting americans themselves. they were very, very effective at maneuvering and essentially fearless. what is their motive? nationalism? religion? take back the country? throw out the invader? how do they look at it? what is why do they want to die? you know, they re not a unified group. at the lowest end, they re local ....

Is all the constitutional guarantees. and dehumanizing people who come here by calling them name like invader or illegals or infestation is what leads to the kind of atrocities we read about in authoritarian regimes around the world. it begins with the dehumanization and then catastrophe ensues. let s not forget the president has proven to us that he s incapable of logistics or realizing that logistics exist. it is not such a clear situation that they can return these kids. they ve offered us no proof that they took the time to record these children s names in their parentage. what we do know is they didn t give the parents any kind of tracking number. it might sound unhuman but you could attach a bracelet around the wrist with a bar code. they snatch them from the arms of their parents. put them into a vast bureaucracy and lose them, possibly forever. ....
