In my opinion column of Jan. 29, about Hamas offers to negotiate peace with Israel, I predicted that someone disagreeing with me would rest their case on the Hamas Charter. Sure enough, that’s precisely what Dick Lentz did on Feb. 9.
It’s easy to forget that the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, as morally abhorrent as it was, did not come out of unprovoked hatred.

Let’s set the record straight on Hamas. Long ago, that Palestinian group (wrote) a charter calling for the elimination of the state of Israel.
