The dating world is a tough one at the best of times, but if you add a global pandemic which has closed down all pubs, clubs and pretty much every other social outlet, things get a whole lot tougher. Thankfully one group in Kerry, Mid-Kerry Macra Na Feirme, has come up with a novel idea to help their own members navigate the dating scene during the COVID crisis. The group will be holding a Zoom Blind Date event this coming Friday, February 12, at 8pm, and they will use the event to raise vital funds for the Irish Community Rapid Response.

Chinese investors are paying €1 million each to social housing schemes planned by developer Richard Barrett’s Bartra Capital, in return for the right to live in the Republic under a Government cash for residency programme. The Department of Justice’s Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP) allows non-EU citizens and their families the right to live in the Republic in return for investments or charity donations. Bartra confirmed on Friday that it has been using the scheme to raise capital from Chinese investors to build social housing and nursing homes in the Republic.

Kerry accounts for up to 25% of the Air Ambulance service call-outs. The life-saving service went live in July 2019 and provides time critical emergency care and transport for people in the county and beyond. The Irish Community Rapid Response (ICRR), a charity dedicated to pre-hospital care, is running the service in co-operation with the HSE National Ambulance Service. Key relationship manager with the ICRR, Karen O’Sullivan says the service is particularly beneficial to people in rural areas of the county:
