The decision by Hobart-Lawrence Police came despite an independent inspection revealing no problems internally with the Sig Sauer P320 pistol which left an officer injured.
The agent's statements were included in records provided to 12 News Investigates in response to a public records request.
"I am going to therefore assume that the remaining Sig Sauer P320 Milwaukee Police Department inventory is also missing that part," MPD captain wrote.
