YORKTOWN — The Island Loop Drive on Jamestown Island at Colonial National Historical Park will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Monday…
"You can pick up artifacts. You can touch them. You can ask questions about them, and actually find some of your own."
Park staff and trained volunteers will monitor turtle activity on a routine basis and visitors should prepare for sporadic closures throughout the year as conditions warrant.
According to NPS, closing the tour road to vehicles reduces the risk of turtles being crushed by vehicle tires.
