Morganza spillway. what actually happens if p it s opened or if it stays closed? if it were to remain closed the problem is we could see greater flooding in places like baton rouge, perhaps, even into new orleans. the idea is to open up the spillway and it could be friday, saturday, sunday, perhaps monday or tuesday when they open it. not quite sure exactly when that movement is going to be. but if it does, we could see widespread flooding west of new orleans, right in this area east of lafayette. they could extend all the way down to the gulf of mexico. now, to show you the spillway itself, we ll zoom in on that key spot. again, this is kind of the choke point, if you will, the mississippi river right over here. the spillway would allow all that water to make its way downstream away from the mississippi river. a bit of a diversionary point. let s put this into motion for a bit, too. this google earth image will take you back to the floodgates. here s where the water would come right ....

Middle east. one of the poorest in the world. the world bank says that it is one of the most they call it water scarce countries in the world. it is literally running out of water and the people know it and that creates its own dynamic as well of violence. there s been fighting over water. it s also running out of oil reserves. it s got only ten years probably and they re going to be depleted and oil makes up 90% of yemen s export earnings. not a pretty picture. food prices are skyrocketing. that in itself can cause deadly riots as well. according to u.n. figures, 45% of the population living on less than $2 u.s. a day. when you get beyond the physical violence, the people of yemen are staring down the threat of starvation. long story short, it is hard to see a happy ending any time soon. michael, thanks for the perspective. we obviously have to keep a close eye on yemen. yemen, bahrain, the whole world is going on. cnn in-depth troubled ....

Baton rouge, but at the same time you re putting other places like morgan city in harm s way potential potentially. it s not definitely going to be a thing for them but it will cause grave concern. again, that will be the area where you see that water coming right in towards morgan city. keep a sharp eye on that. something else to keep a sharp eye on is rough weather seeing around the country today. in fact, heading towards texas, texas is a place that s been ravaged by wildfires. today some strong storms and much-needed rainfall for the texas hill country. we ll see it in places like austin, back towards the ohio valley, strong storms developing near pittsburgh, columbus, and cleveland. that s a quick snapshot in the world of weather.
