The tax would help pay for several improvements on the Civic Center, the baseball field at Itts Williams Park adjacent to the Civic Center and the VFW Memorial Arena.
Among those top projects include infrastructure plans, revamping of recreational venues and the need for two south-end bridges
The idea was considered in a committee meeting. It still needs approval from the full Legislature before it can come back to East Grand Forks for a citywide vote. EGF leaders recently discussed the tax, as well as a proposed bridge project and local government aid, during meetings in St. Paul.
