Nuclear power finds itself caught between cheaper sources of carbon-emitting energy and heavily subsidized clean power sources like wind and solar.

Buoyed by the recent passage of the ambitious Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, Gov. J.B. Pritzker is heading to the COP26 climate change summit in Glasgow, Scotland, to present Illinois as a global player in the emerging green economy.

Illinois became on Wednesday the first Midwest state to adopt a law that sets a roadmap to ban coal in the state, eliminate other fossil-fuel sources of electricity and provide only "clean energy," including nuclear, after Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act.
