POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — On Nov. 1, 1952, Jack Fruth opened the first Fruth Pharmacy on Jackson Avenue in Point Pleasant.
Fruth Pharmacy President Lynne Fruth and members of her family were among the guests at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the last 14.6 miles of U.S. 35 in West Virginia. Lynne’s father, Jack Fruth, who started Fruth Pharmacy in 1952, was a tireless advocate for the highway’s construction. The project took more than 50 years to complete. Jack Fruth died in 2005. Many state and local dignitaries were on hand for the ceremony, including West Virginia Sens.
