Sioux City teen will face murder charge as an adult in fatal New Year's Day shooting

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A Sioux City teen charged with murder in a fatal New Year's Day shooting will be tried as an adult after his defense attempted to move his case to juvenile court.
Eighteen-year-old Carlos Morales is one of three men is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Mia Kritis. If convicted, he faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.
His current trial is scheduled for May 11.
The fatal shooting happened on January 1 in the 2600 block of Walker Street in Sioux City, where several people opened fire on a residence with 9-millimeter handguns and an assault-style rifle.
