closure that that family will never receive, will forever be linked to this case and this acquittal. and i think that of anything that has not been discussed and not been explored, that perhaps is the biggest tragedy that we're looking at. that's not to discount the lives that were lost and the person that was injured, but it is to say there's an important larger conversation that's not being had around how we even got here. and it's a shame that i think that going forward, a lot of people are going to miss that point. >> charles, thank you. elie, thank you. appreciate it. i want to turn now to alvin owens, a community activist in kenosha, wisconsin. mr. owens, thank you so much for joining us this evening. i appreciate it. so you are a community activist and a business owner. you helped to organize protesters in the wake of the jacob blake shooting. what was your reaction to today's verdict, and then what are you hearing from others in kenosha tonight? >> well, first, i'm active in my community. i don't know if i carry the full title of activist, but i'm very active in my community, don.

business owner. you helped to organize protests in the wake of the jacob blake shooting. what was your reaction to the verdict and what are you hearing from others in kenosha tonight? >> well, first, i'm active in my community. i don't know if i carry the full title of activist but i'm very active in my community, don. what i make of it? i really didn't. it was par for the course with this verdict. many within my direct community, the african-american community of kenosha, many of us were at a funeral of one of our very own, maurkice wallace, jr., who was gunned down last week due to gun violence. so we were there today when the verdict happened was during the service of the funeral. so we literally were just -- we're still mourning from that. and so when we got the news, it

people, young people, might pose a larger threat. two officers were caught pushing a 75-year-old man to the ground. other brutality incidents occurred as well, separate from protests. jacob blake shooting sparked the protest against this kind of violence. that is the recent historical contest. when there are protests, people exercising constitutional rights, they're met with violence like these two in kenosha, killed. today's acquittal would appear to co-sign that violence. two people dead from rittenhouse's rifle. they're not coming back. the victim families are speaking out today after the verdict. it is a new test tonight going forward with this ruling that allows this kind of vigilanteism in these two killings. the courts are one place these

the january 6th vent as a criminal conspiracy. i'm not so sure the kyle rittenhouses and the people who ought to know. >> i will make ali respond. i'd be careful comparing kyle rittenhouse to other folks. you go ahead. >> the approach after protests of the jacob blake shooting. he was shot six times in the back by a cop who was not charged. who was not prosecuted. who was not disciplined by his police department and in october just a couple weeks ago, merritt garland's justice department declined to press charges against the cop who shot jacob blake in the back six times. so if you aren't going to prosecute the coptor kid, who do you prosecute? who gets punished for killing
