The Arkansas women's tennis team's Carolina Gomez Alonso and Kelly Keller concluded their fall seasons in the ITF 15K Champaign with Gomez Alonso advancing to the 2nd round of the singles main draw.
With some close matches and stellar performances from Cal's freshmen, the team came out on top despite losing the doubles point to start off the match.
BERKELEY – The California women's tennis team will send Golden Bears to two tournaments this week, as Jessica Alsola and Erin Richardson play in the ITA National Fall Championships and a five-Bear crew of Julia Rosenqvist, Valentina Ivanov, Hannah Viller Moeller, Jada Bui and Makenna Thiel competes in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. Fall nationals run from Thursday through Sunday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, while the ASU tournament is slated for Friday through Sunday at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
The blue and gold shone at regionals, with Cal making the semifinals in both singles and doubles but coming away empty-handed after two semifinal losses.
