Of the 15,554 covid deaths reported in
Bengaluru so far, 1,640 took place at home or en route to the hospital. Was it carelessness?
The number of covid-19 patients who died at home or lost their lives before reaching the hospital for treatment is as high as 1,640, according to data from the
Department of Health and Family Welfare. The massive numbers indicate that these patients either took the initial
symptoms lightly or did not get guidance from healthcare professionals or from teleconsultants appointed by the government.

Drivers say from today they can’t clock 70-80 km/hr that they could on empty roads
As the first phase of unlock comes into effect from Monday,
ambulances (whose numbers had dramatically increased in the recent past) will lose the advantage of shifting critical patients on city’s traffic-free roads. These life-saving
vehicles, which could clock up to 70 to 80 km per hour during the lockdown, are likely to face the challenge of driving through the narrow roads and umpteen traffic signals.

After the oxygen crisis hit the State with many losing lives for the want of oxygen, the health and family welfare department has now issued a circular asking the

If the hospital has a

The Oxygen Concentrator

The Oxygen Concentrator
With poor quality
oxygen concentrators flooding the market, thousands of lives, already weakened by the virus, are not getting enough oxygen to breathe. Doctors
say
patients must seek expert advice before buying one
A large number of people, during and after recovering from covid, have become dependent on medical oxygen. Thus the machine helping people breathe, the
oxygen concentrator, has become a much sought-after device. But with oxygen concentrators in great demand, many sub-standard machines have flooded the market. While black marketers and dubious businessmen make profits, it is at the cost of the lives of innocent people, already brought to their knees by the curse of covid and its many complications.

new guidelines. Now doctors are advising oxygen concentrators
On May 9, the Karnataka government changed the guidelines on medical oxygen supply. The new guidelines state that medical oxygen should be supplied by re-fillers and manufacturers to hospitals only and not to individuals. Though this has been done to prevent hoarding of oxygen at home, since oxygen has been in short supply when
covid cases were rising till the first week of May, it is inconveniencing thousands of oxygen-dependent individuals at home.
