ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico makes its return into the NCAA Tournament with a 1 p.m. Mountain Time match with No. 8 overall and eighth-seeded Texas A&M.  The Lobos, winners of the Mountain West for a second straight season, will take on a team with national championship aspirations. If there is an unseeded team that could dash those Aggie hopes, it would be UNM. by Frank Mercogliano LOGAN, Utah — After losing its first Mountain West match in 1,099 days, the Lobo men’s tennis team made sure that it got back to its winning ways with a convincing 4-0 sweep of Utah State, moving the Lobos to 5-1 in the Mountain West and within one win of a conference title and the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championships. The win was also a milestone victory for the program as it was the 1,000 win in school history. Comeback Falls Just Short in 4-3 Loss at Boise BOISE, Idaho — Trailing 3-0, UNM came storming back but the Lobos fell just short, losing the tiebreaking match in a third set 6-4 as Boise State defeated UNM 4-3, ending the Lobos’ 1099-day streak of Mountain West matches without a loss.  The Lobos, who hadn’t lost a Mountain West match since April 13, 2018, fell to 6-9 overall but 4-1 in the league and still are no worse than tied for first place with two games left. Lobos Cruise Over UNLV to Stay Unbeaten ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It was billed as a battle of the last two unbeatens in the Mountain West.  Now, UNM not only is the last unbeaten, but they’ve barely been touched.  New Mexico cruised past UNLV 4-0 in just under two hours to take a solitary hold of first place as the last unbeaten team in the Mountain West at 3-0.  UNM now will ready itself for a Sunday senior day match with San Diego State at 1 p.m at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
