"We as community have to show our youth there are better ways than jumping on cars and causing havoc, or pointing guns at any human beings even police officers," said her mother, Dionne Mhoon, at Saturday's street naming ceremony. "Because some of those people turn into the people who took my baby's life."
The prosecutors in the murder case of Chicago police Officer Aréanah Preston are asking that the judge be replaced, citing prejudice.
“It's nice to get letters from the president, and it's nice for the mayor to say things about Aréanah in his speech, but we need action. We need tougher laws. We need people to stand up, we need people to raise their kids correctly. We need parents to be accountable for their kids' actions. And most importantly we need justice for Aréanah," said Dionne Mhoon, mother of Aréanah.
