There are no real mountains, they’re hills.
It’s not the place to go for downhill skiing.
It’s cold and dark.
It’s expensive.
Not all of the above are true and even if they are, they should be considered against the advantages.
You can ski in many Norwegian resorts from November to May.

I read my friend Kevin Young’s perspective on PlanetSKI on the past year living with Covid-19 from his home near Chamonix in the French Alps.
I last skied with my mate Kevo in 2019 at Les Contamines /Megeve and St Gervais.

It is a sporting event like no other and is up there with the Hahnenkamm in our book as one of the most exciting ski events in the racing calendar.
Up to 50,000 people descend on the Austrian ski town to revel in the racing and party like it is going out of fashion.

Hats off to Chamonix! - PlanetSKI

Hats off to Chamonix!

So, what is it like in the iconic French resort?
We repeat its newsletter without a single edit.
“Without our foreign visitors, the Christmas holidays were much quieter than usual with an average occupancy across the 2 weeks of 23%.
“Most affected were hotel bookings and a number of hotels have chosen to remain closed until the lifts re-open, whilst some only open over the weekend period.
