Time and again we install presidents and vice presidents who did not receive the majority of votes. To change this constitutionally is a Herculean task. But the National Popular Vote movement offers an easier way to accomplish this fair, bipartisan and blatantly democratic reform. Simply put, states that pass National Popular Vote legislation mandate that their Electoral College electors cast their votes for the candidates who won the most votes nationally. Traditionally state laws have required electors to vote for the candidates who won the most votes in their state. But now 25 states have either passed National Popular Vote legislation, or it has passed one of their legislative chambers. And the measure is succeeding in both blue and red states. ....
