The Gardiner City Council endorsed John Cameron's appointment Wednesday. Cameron had been named deputy director late last year by City Manager Andrew Carlton, who was also serving as Public Works director while the position was vacant.
The Gardiner City Council unanimously approved the permanent appointment of Todd Pilsbury, interim police chief, and Dawn Thistle, interim library director. Both Pilsbury and Thistle have been longtime city employees.
Detective Sgt. Todd Pilsbury was named interim police chief and Assistant Library Director Dawn Thistle was named interim director Wednesday as the city works to fill those department head positions.
Chief James Toman, 52, began with the Gardiner Police Department as a part-time officer in 1990, and worked his way to the top position in 2003.
