SALISBURY, Md.  An active lawsuit in Circuit Court this month focuses on potential fraud in the Wicomico County payroll system dating back to 2015.
Leslie Lewis, county finance director from 2015 to spring 2017, is suing the county for wrongful termination in connection to the alleged deception because she refused to commit criminal acts and opposed criminal activity.
Lewis filed the suit in August 2020, following notice and attempts by both parties to resolve their claims, according to court documents.
The Accomack County, Virginia, resident has more than 30 years combined experience as a certified public accountant, having served as a finance director for neighboring Northampton County before her stint in Wicomico. ....
