On Monday, the appeals court granted an emergency appeal to halt the demolition of Roosevelt.
According to the district, abatement will need to occur before demolition and no date has been set for the building to be razed.
Roosevelt had 345 students in the three-story building when a drop ceiling in an unused first floor classroom collapsed in June 2022 and the school was closed.
At the time of the closing, Roosevelt’s enrollment included 97 students from Keego Harbor and 175 school of choice students.
Stottlemeyer also mentioned an aging playground on the site, built in 1997, was also not worth saving.
