On May 1, voters cast their ballots for four Humble ISD board of trustees positions. Incumbents Robert Sitton and Martina Lemond Dixon retained their seats while newcomers Ken Kirchhofer and Chris Parker were elected.
Approximately 9,000 votes were cast in the election, which is equivalent to a low 7 percent turnout.
The newly elected board members will be sworn in next month. “Board members are scheduled to take the oath of office at the school board meeting on June 8,” said Jamie Mount, chief communications officer for Humble ISD. ....

The second round of campaign financial disclosures for the Humble ISD school board election show Martina Dixon raised the most money during the second reporting period (March 23- April 21.) She raised $5,980. Chris Parker had the second highest donated, with a reporting of $5,352. Ken Kirchhofer raised $2,908.53 and Robert Sitton raised $2,763.04. The reports are posted at HumbleISD.net.
Dixon benefited from a $2,500 donation from Rick Walker, a Kingwood resident who ran for Congress in 2018. The first round of reports showed he donated the same amount to Sitton, Parker and Janie Branham. U.S. Congressman Dan Crenshaw, who defeated Walker, donated $1,000 from his campaign to Sitton. ....

The Humble ISD school board election is set for May 1 with five candidates, Janie Branham, Marques Holmes, Lonnie Jackson, Kenneth Kirchhofer and Chase Stevens, vying for Position 4.

I am a career educator and certified teacher who has extensive experience in teaching, management and fundraising in public schools. After 27 years, I retired to raise my children. However, in August, with COVID-19 causing a teacher shortage, I was called to come out of retirement to teach full time and I accepted the call. The first round of required campaign reports have been filed by candidates for the May 1 Humble ISD school board election. The reports are for the initial period ending March 31.
State law dictates reports must be filed 30 days before the election and again eight days before the vote. All the reports may be found on the Humble ISD website under the “school board” tab.
Several running have amassed significant sums while most of the 19 running have received much less or no money at all.
Chris Parker, candidate for the open seat Pos. 3, collected the highest amount of donations, $12,910.60. Robert Sitton, the incumbent running for Pos. 1, garnered the second highest with $11,952.04. Ken Kirchhofer, running for the open seat of Pos. 4, reported the third highest total with $6,000 in donations while Martina Lemond Dixon, an incumbent run ....

The candidates running for four Humble ISD board seats have been finalized, with Election Day set to take place on May 1. Early voting will begin Monday, April 19 and continue until April 27.
School board members are volunteers, who serve without pay, and are elected for four-year terms. Four of the board’s seven seats are up for reelection this year.
The deadline to submit applications closed at 5 p.m. Feb. 12. There are a total of 19 candidates running for the four positions. They are:
