A SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule carrying four astronauts to Earth descended from the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday morning.
The spacecraft recovered the spacecraft and crew at the International Space Station (ISS) after a six-month mission. The crew reported that they were feeling well, NASA said.
The capsule splashed at 2:56 (06:56 GMT) in the dark Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast after a six-and-a-half-hour flight from the ISS, images emitted by NASA’s WB-57 high. he showed aircraft to investigate altitude.
It was the first splash of darkness in the U.S. in 1968 when Apollo 8 crew returned from the moon.

The flight back to Earth is expected to take approximately 6.5 hours. The four astronauts are scheduled to land on Sunday at 2:57 a.m. local time in the Gulf of Mexico (8:57 a.m. Belgian time). The planned landing site is located off Panama City, Florida, but other alternative sites have been designated as needed. “We trained to recover the crews day and night,” reassured Steve Stich, NASA’s commercial flight program manager, interviewed shortly before the capsule’s departure. “The boats have a lot of lighting” and we will have “the light of the moon”, he said, adding that the weather conditions were excellent for the moment, with calm seas. SpaceX ships can reach the capsule “about 10 minutes after landing,” he said. The Americans Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker and the Japanese Soichi Noguchi were last November the first astronauts of an “operational” mission to be transported to the ISS by the space company of Elon Musk, which s is imposed as an essential partner of NASA. Two other Americans have already made the round trip aboard Dragon in 2020, during a two-month test mission aboard the Station. It was then the first flight to the ISS launched from the United States since the end of space shuttles in 2011, and the first operated by a private company with astronauts on board. This time it is the first regular mission to be brought back to Earth by SpaceX. For the final “splash”, the astronauts will be aboard the same Dragon spacecraft, called “Resilience”, which had taken them to orbit, and which SpaceX then plans to reuse for other missions, after reconditioning. The departure of this crew, Crew-1, follows the arrival on board the ISS last week of a second regular mission carried by the American company (Crew-2), which includes the French astronaut. Thomas Pesquet, and to whom the baton has been passed in recent days. (Belga)
