GODFREY Lewis and Clark Community College Student Activities is hosting and promoting a myriad of free virtual events for February’s Black History Month, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If there’s a positive to functioning during the pandemic, it’s offering opportunities that I normally would not have been exposed to,” said Student Activities Coordinator Jared Hennings. “There’s a wide range of subject matter, both educational and entertaining, fusing speakers, music, theater and history.”
One headliner of L&C’s lineup of events is a virtual talk with St. Louis Cardinals KMOX Radio Broadcaster Mike Claiborne, scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10. ....

GODFREY Lewis and Clark Community College will host a virtual celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. at noon on Thursday, Jan. 21.
The program is a YouTube premiere event featuring keynote speaker Jonathan Pulphus,students reciting excerpts from famous speeches and letters by civil rights advocates, a dance presentation and a choir performance.
Participants can view the free, educational event on the college’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/lewisandclarkcc, and/or log in to participate in a live chat with other viewers.
“This program is important because we engage students to participate and by their involvement they are educated,” said L&C Student Activities Coordinator Jared Hennings. “The keynote is integral because we need to hear a message that’s topical to help us better navigate how we can all better meld our differences regarding race moving ....

GODFREY In her first three semesters studying science and chemistry at Lewis and Clark Community College, Marenike Moyegun has established herself as a future leader whose life experience has directed her to make a positive impact on generations to come.
The Edwardsville High School graduate simultaneously serves as president of both the Student Government Association and the Black Student Association. Also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, she’s also extremely active in L&C Student Activities.
