Slick conditions remain on secondary streets in Evansville with most main roads cleared
Slick conditions on secondary streets

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - We’re continuing to monitor road conditions across the Tri-State Wednesday morning.
Evansville saw at least five inches of snow Monday into Tuesday.
Although there are passing lanes on many highly traveled roads like the Lloyd Expressway and Highway 41, there are still slick conditions on side roads and secondary streets.
Officials with the Vanderburgh County Road Department say more rural areas of the county have been the most difficult to clear because of drifts.

Saline County begins online registration for COVID-19 vaccination

Saline County begins online registration for COVID-19 vaccination
The Salina Journal
Online registration has come to Saline County for members of the public eligible in Phase 2 of the COVID-19 vaccination guidelines.
Salina Family Healthcare Center, Saline County Health Department and Salina Regional Health Center announced the online registration, which is available by clicking the Register for Vaccine” tab at the top of the the county s vaccine website, www.vaccinatesalinecountyks.com.
Last week, scheduling for vaccination was closed after all 900 of the appointments were claimed in under 30 minutes.
“We are so pleased that 900 people, most of whom are senior citizens, were able to receive their vaccine this week,” said Jason Tiller, Saline County health officer. “Now that we have more clarity from the state about how much vaccine we will have and how often it will be delivered, we’ve been able to create a more long-term sustainable solution to vaccine scheduling.”

'Sore arms' so far most major COVID-19 vaccine side effect in Saline County

Nothing dramatic was reported by the front-line medical workers who received the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this month in Saline County.
“I had a very mild sore arm for about 24 hours,” said Dr. Robert Kraft, CEO and chief medical officer at Salina Family Healthcare Center. “It was much less painful or symptomatic than the flu shot I get every year.
A similar sentiment was echoed by Dr. Rob Freelove, chief medical officer at Salina Regional Health Center.
“My arm was sore for a couple of days,” he said.
SRHC has been closely monitoring side effects of the 938 people who were immunized “in the first go-round,” he said. “Most common side effect has been tenderness or arm soreness. Some had redness, and there were some complaints about body aches and headaches, and we have had some report fevers.”

Saline County passes 4,000 COVID-19 cases

The Salina Journal
After reporting 283 new cases Wednesday, Saline County has now passed 4,000 total COVID-19 cases while an additional death from the disease was also reported.
The county said the dramatic rise in cases being reported can be attributed to free testing becoming available broadly in the county.
“More than 1,400 people were tested for COVID-19 during the free-testing events this week,” said Jason Tiller, director of the Saline County Health Department and county health officer. “This highlights the importance of being tested even if you are not experiencing symptoms, so you can take appropriate steps to not spread the virus to others.
