Bradford Literature Festival returns to venues. Here's the line-up | Bradford Telegraph and Argus


BRADFORD Literature Festival is returning to live venues, with a line-up that includes best-selling writer Caitlin Moran, TV presenter Anita Rani and former Great Britain rugby league captain Ellery Hanley.
The festival was virtual last year, due to the pandemic, but is back from June 25 to July 4 with half the events in city centre venues and outdoor locations, and the other half online. Guests include Bradford crime writer AA Dhand, children s novelists Jacqueline Wilson and Michael Rosen and comedian Tez Ilyas.
The Brontë Heritage Weekend returns with a walking tour taking of tributes by creatives including Kate Bush carved into stones between Haworth and Thornton. And the festival programme marks anniversaries include the 2001 Manningham riots, 50 years of the independence of Bangladesh, 20 years since 9/11 and the fifth anniversary of the death of Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox. ....

THE co-creator of Alan Partridge and stars from Ru Paul’s Drag Race are highlights of Bradford Fringe Festival, taking place in city venues this summer.
The festival has a packed programme of theatre, comedy, dance and poetry from July 3 to August 1, headed by Oscar-nominated writer and satirist Armando Iannucci, in virtual conversation with Bradford film-maker Javaad Alipoor discussing film, screen and politics followed by an audience Q&A. Armando Iannucci has written, directed, and produced critically acclaimed films and TV and radio comedy shows including In The Loop, nominated for an Oscar in 2009, and Bafta-winning BBC comedy The Thick of It. He’s the co-creator and writer of Steve Coogan’s hugely popular Alan Partridge and his HBO comedy Veep has won four Emmys. Armando also wrote The Personal History of David Copperfield and HBO series Avenue 5, starring Hugh Laurie. ....

Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2021 line-up announced

Aerial duo Gravity and Levity will perform at the Garden Party in Chapelfield Gardens at the Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2021.

From cabaret to an installation in prison cells, the line-up for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2021 is as diverse as ever.
The annual arts festival returns from May 17 to May 30 and once again features a jam-packed programme of live music, theatre, art and literature. 
This year will be a specially created one-off adaptation due to coronavirus, with outdoor and socially distanced performances and a digital strand.
Robot Selfie by production studio Kaleider will take place in Chapelfield Gardens. ....

Rock n Roll come immediately to mind - plays that wrestle with concepts (English identity and the diversities of passion) rather than the connect-the-dots plots of so many American plays.

Rich Kids: A History of Shopping Malls in Tehran very much in the theatre as exploration of ideas camp, and it does so very well. I hesitate to even call it a play in any traditional sense. Is it an experience? An interaction? Whatever it is, it is definitely a glorious surprise.
Honestly, I have found myself feeling less than excited about viewing theatre online the past year. For me, it so often highlights the fact that we can t all be in a room together creating and sharing stories instead of giving me the booster shot of theatre that I need and love. Plus, I am neither rich nor a kid, nor have I been to Tehran (I realize I don t actually know much about Tehran, or even Iran in general), nor have I been to a shopping mall in ....
