Republican Jay Willis ran unopposed for this year’s election. He is a retired dentist and consultant who has served on the board of directors for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Mayor Willis says while in office, one of his goals is to continue to grow the downtown area by hopefully adding an additional 70 apartments or condos to the area by the end of the year.
