Almost two years ago, Springfield-based rapper and business owner Charles Crawford was returning from an out-of-town show when someone shot into the vehicle Crawford was in. The bullet traveled through a friend s leg and lodged in Crawford s back. The person s leg they said it saved my life, Crawford said. His leg slowed down the velocity of the bullet. Crawford said he died twice as first responders and surgeons worked to save his life. He recalls incredible pain, his vision shaking, passing out multiple times, seeing his mom in the emergency room crying and begging to see his kids. I felt like I wasn t going to come back, he said. All I kept thinking about was my kids. ....
